Thomas Haddy, Lidded Jar of pink alabaster with talc lid and brown brucite accent, 6.25 inches high by 8 inches diameter.
Thomas Haddy, a native of Northern California, lives in Nevada City, in the foothills of the Sierras. His experience in sculpture and murals led him to turning stone vessels in 2013.
He works in a variety of stones, including alabaster, talc, soapstone, brucite and others. Few turners work in stone, more often wood is used, so his pieces are unique.
His vessels sometimes are made of a single stone and sometimes of multiple stones fused and then turned.
Thomas’ inspiration is from ancient Egyptian, Greek and Chinese vessels.
